I love freshly polished and manicured digits but I rarely have time to wait for polish to dry completely which usually results in smudges and dings. I’m no princess either. I work, do dishes, garden, camp and play hard so manicures rarely last more than a few days on me especially when you add in the 75 times a day I wash my hands. CND has changed the world of mani’s with their latest product Shellac. It’s the first gel hybrid nail polish and I think I’m in love! It’s release was so highly anticipated that we had to wait a couple weeks to even get our hands on it. Here is what you need to know. These beautiful shades go on like polish but wear like gel which means you can get up to 14 days of wear. When your ready for your next manicure it easily removes in 10 minutes with NO damage to your natural nail. Really! So we happily introduce our newest nail service to you. Book your appointment today so you too can fall in love with manicures again!.

Is your makeup regime making you feel a little heavy? Do you have days where you look in the mirror and expect the late Tammy Faye Baker to stare back at you? With so many foundations, shimmers, powders and primers out there it is so easy to get carried away and end up with pounds of makeup in your bag. My name is Susan and I am a product addict. I’m also 31 years old and in an effort to conceal all my spots, marks, bumps and wrinkles I’ve found myself applying more layers than an onion. It’s time to simplify!

We are so excited to announce that we are one of Fort Collins premier salons to be carrying Jane Iredale Mineral Cosmetics. Jane came from Broadway and wanted a makeup that would have great coverage but would be healthy for the skin also. Its 15 years later and Jane Iredale is leading the beauty industry. They have been featured in Elle, Self, Allure and InStyle magazine. There are so many great things about Jane Iredale but my favorite is I can now start to simplify my regime. I’m a busy girl after all!

The Important Tidbits:

You get 4 in 1: Foundation, Powder, Concealer, and SPF20 in one little container.

The micronized mineral base is milled in a way that allows the product to be light reflective which means you get the smooth, flawless and dewy glow you deserve.

Pure pigment means no talc and no fillers. Because it’s highly pigmented you will use less so you skip the heavy feeling and your makeup will last longer.

Jane does not test on animals and is also green. They now feature refillable compacts to create less waste. Not only are they responsible but they have a fun palette of colors from bronzers to my fave, 24 carat gold shimmer. You deserve the purest products for you skin. We invite you to come in for a free color match and learn more about Jane. You glow girl!

Wax the old chasse. Tame the unibrow. Smooth the beaver. Say no to bush. We have all heard our fair share of funny sayings and slogans when it comes to hair removal. Hollywood has even started to showcase waxing. Samantha’s look of horror when she spotted Miranda’s untamed bikini line while our fave girls lounged poolside in the Sex and the City movie. Or the infamous waxing scene in 40 Year Old Virgin. As funny as we like to make hair removal out to be, it’s important to remember it’s a service that should be approached by a professional that takes it seriously.
I’ve had grown men come in for waxing services clammy and white as a ghost because they saw 40 Year Old Virgin and think that’s what they signed up for. FYI, the lady doing that chest wax was there strictly for comical relief. She did not follow the normal waxing protocol. Or women in passing saying they would never get waxed again because their first experience was so horrific. I’ve even had waxing nightmares from other “professionals” in the industry. My fave was the overpriced Brazilian I booked in Atlanta at a top notch day spa. After the first wax strip came off I knew something wasn’t right. The technician soon told me that she had never done a Brazilian bikini wax before. I walked her through how to do it and then an hour later paid full price with rogue hairs all over my southern regions.
There has been controversy in NJ lately as they are trying to ban Brazilian bikini waxing. Why would someone try to take away our sacred smoothness? In short a couple women were waxed in unclean environments and suffered major complications landing them in the hospital. The skin in the genital area is thin and the mucus membranes are more susceptible to tearing if the esthetician is not skilled or trained in the right techniques. I’ve heard horror stories from other women and friends of brows being ripped off; wax left on skin or clothes and even burns from wax being too hot.
These are the things you need to look for when shopping for an esthetician and salon for your waxing:
1. License to remove….In the state of Colorado you must be licensed to perform hair removal and beauty services. Look for a posted license. It’s mandatory in Colorado for these to be posted. If you don’t see one then ask the owner to show you documentation.
2. Housecleaning….If the place looks dirty on the surface then it’s probably not sanitary. Sheets should be new for every client and/or a disposable sheet should be used for each client.
3. Double Dipping? How Rude! Let’s think about this. I dip the stick in wax and then apply the wax to your bikini area. And then go back with the same wax stick that I just put on your privates and redip in my wax pot. Some people argue that the wax is too hot for bacteria to live but you would have a hard time convincing me of that. Why risk it?
4. Wear the rubber…Gloves protect both parties during a waxing service. I don’t wear them during facial waxing but for any other body part I do. It creates a barrier and keeps body fluids including blood from spreading. P.S. minor pin prick bleeding is normal for some waxing services.
5. Lip Service…Word of mouth is the best advertising. Ask around about a salon’s reputation or look for reviews. If the good outweighs the bad then it’s probably a reputable place.

We take waxing very serious at She She although we do like to laugh at all of the funny references and depictions in movies. You can rest assure that we strive for the highest level of sanitation and cleanliness. We do believe in continuing education and are always current on the newest techniques. All of our estheticians have undergone a waxing apprenticeship program before seeing paying clients so you never have to experience a Brazilian horror story like mine mentioned earlier.

You might be planning your tropical getaway for spring break or just itching to break out the hot new mini skirt you have hiding in your closet. It can be a little daunting to think about strutting your pasty white stuff on the beaches when you’ve spent the winter all covered up. Like bears coming out of hibernation we all swarm the tanning salons to bake and bronze ourselves to perfection. Fact is the trade off of having tan skin might not be worth it.

I grew up on the beaches of Cocoa Beach, Florida. I am naturally glow in the dark white. That bottle of “Tropical Goodness” promised that fair ole me would look like I was from the islands. Instead I burned myself to a crisp and waddled for a few days. I came out of the gates too quick. And it took me years to learn that if I cooked myself up a little slower I could eventually get a “tan”. The fact is at the age of 31 all that baking is starting to show up on my skin.

I’m not talking about the 10-15 minutes a day of sun exposure recommended to help our bodies make Vitamin D and I’m not going to bore you to death with a lecture because we all have to learn our own lessons. With more than 1 million people in the US diagnosed with skin cancer every year this is a topic worth bringing up. I’m just going to skim over the most important things to remember:

Sun damage can turn cute freckles into nasty little age spots. Check. Yep at 31 I just spotted my first age spot.

Over exposure to sun can break down collagen and cause the skin to sag. Yep, got this one too.

Skin cancer is ugly and is the most common form of cancer and approximately 90% of all skin cancers can be traced to UV exposure. Skin cancer most often occurs on the face, and almost never on the buttocks, inner thighs, or under the arms. Malignant melanoma is the deadliest form of skin cancer and its incidence is rapidly rising in women under 40.

So now that I’ve accepted my paleness I have 2 options to fit in. Start rocking some red lipstick and platinum hair just like Gwen Steffani. She really makes fair skin cool. The other option is spray tanning which has started to become an affordable option to those like me or others wanting the bronze without all the risk. Spray tans and self tanners have come a long way from the days where QT was the only thing on the shelves and you looked as orange as an Ompaloompa when you were done.

She She is now using South Seas Formula for our custom spray tans. Spray booths can over saturate you and can also miss hard to reach spots. So in 5 minutes you can have a custom spray tan and not feel sticky for the rest of the day. The formula consists of DHA which has been listed with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) since 1973, and has been used in cosmetic preparations for almost 30 years. It is a sugar derivative that reacts with the amino acids in the skin to create a tan. We searched high a low for something that didn’t smell and decided on South Seas which is a cucumber melon scent.

Heading into spring and summer keep in mind that skin health is cumulative. The long term effects of the damage you do today adds up and can pack a punch when it’s all said and done.

It’s just one of those things that you daydream about. Indulging in an hour of “you” time. No kids screaming your name, no job duties to be fulfilled, no significant other wanting to know where din din is. You and some much deserved time on the massage table getting all the daily stresses worked out of your muscles. But with so many types of massage and therapists to choose from how do you know what is best for you.
Most people have a notion that spas only give the allusive “fluff and buff massage” or in other terms a lotion application. I’ve had these massages where you feel like your untrained significant other could do a better job massaging your shoulders using his left hand. I received a massage once from a woman that had no clue what she was doing. I left feeling more tense than when she started. This lady was offering a massage that was cheaper than anyone else in town. I learned that you get what you pay for.
Massage can be an amazing healing treatment when performed by an educated therapist with a passion for it. With the right person you will walk away feeling light as a feather wondering why you don’t do it more often. Regular bodywork will alleviate muscles that can tighten up from day to day stress or repetitive use. For example sitting at your desk all day staring at the computer screen is eventually going to wreak havoc on your neck and shoulders which can lead to horrible headaches and even pull your skeletal system out of alignment. There are so many other benefits to massage other than the obvious muscular ones. Massage can:

• Enhance immunity by stimulating lymph flow—the body’s natural defense system.
• Exercise and stretch weak, tight, or atrophied muscles.
• Help athletes of any level prepare for, and recover from, strenuous workouts.
• Lessen depression and anxiety.
• Pump oxygen and nutrients into tissues and vital organs, improving
circulation.
• Release endorphins—amino acids that work as the body’s natural painkiller.

We live in a world where most women are martyrs in their work life as well as their home life. We are used to always taking care of everyone else; kids, employee’s, employer’s, and significant others. There is nothing over indulgent or wrong about treating yourself on a regular basis. Even if it’s once a month. You deserve it!

She She prides itself on not just offering “fluffy” massages. All of our therapists are highly educated and super passionate about their profession. All are trained in multiple modalities of bodywork including; Hot Stone, Neuromuscular, Deep Tissue, Reflexology and more. We welcome you to ask us any questions you might have. We would love to help you de-stress your life if even for just an hour!
